Submissions for Review
We're happy to accept unsolicited submissions to consider for review, but please be aware that, generally, we only review books by women or nonbinary individuals. We also reserve the right to choose not to review any book submitted. If you are interested in Reading Women covering a book around its release date, we prefer that you submit the book(s) 6 to 8 weeks in advance.
We’d love to read books: about the South, with diverse voices/POV characters, etc. Check our archives to get a sense of the types of books we review.
We’re not currently looking for: self-published books, self-help, thrillers, inspirational romance, or books by men with “strong female side characters.”
To pitch us a title, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Submissions for the Reading Women Award
Every year, we award the Reading Women Award to one nonfiction and one fiction title. You can find past award winners on our Reading Women Award page.
Requirements for Submission
The title must be written by or about women.
The author does not have to identify as a woman to be eligible for the award, but the book should focus on women and themes relevant to women's lives.
The book must be available in print and published in the United States.
We do not accept self-published titles.
We are currently accepting books for the 2019 Reading Women Award. Books published in the United States between November 1st, 2018 and October 31st, 2019 are eligible.
The title must be originally published in English.
While short stories and essays are welcome, we do not accept anthologies by multiple authors.
The award for fiction focuses on literary fiction or fiction with a literary bent. The award for nonfiction focuses on memoir and general nonfiction, but does not include self-improvement titles, such as self-help or money management books.
To submit a book for the award, or if you have any questions, please email Kendra at email@example.com.
